What to Expect

We're here for you.

We know that walking into a new church building can be intimidating, whether you've attended churches before or if it's your first time. Our desire is to love people into the kingdom of God, so that they may know the fullness of God's great love for us!

Here are a few things to expect when you visit Coopertown.

Where do I go?

Our address is 3618 Old Coopertown Road, Springfield, TN 37172 (Click the address link for directions).

When you arrive, there is parking  in the front or back of the building. The main entrance is in the front with the long ramp, beside the playground. Handicap parking is available directly in front of the ramp. There is also a smaller handicap ramp in the back of the building, facing Woods Road.

What do I wear?

There is no dress code at our church. You will see people in ties, polos, dresses, jeans, and occasionally princess outfits. We encourage people to come as they are (But you're welcome to coordinate your outfit with your best friend!)

What are your service times?

Our service times are as follows:
We meet for Sunday school at 9 am. All of our classrooms are in the back of the building. Adults meet together in a large classroom, and kids meet in hallway classrooms split up by age. We have classes prepared for infants and toddlers, all the way up through High School. (Have kids? Click to learn more about our children's ministry). Classes dismiss at 9:45.

At 10 am, we meet in the auditorium for a time of singing, Bible reading, prayer, and preaching. More on this below.

10AM Sunday Morning Worship Time

We sing at our church—a lot! Singing is the natural response of a heart that has been filled with God's goodness. We sing because "it is good to praise the Lord" (Psalm 92:1).
We sing a mixture of traditional hymns and newer songs. If you are uncomfortable with singing or unfamiliar with any of the songs, you are welcome to simply listen to the words, which are projected onto a screen at the front of the auditorium. Click here to watch a livestream of our worship time.

You will notice we don't sing with any musical instruments, but only with our voices. We don't reject the use of instruments. We have chosen to embrace acapella singing for its beauty, its simplicity, its roots in the early church, and for its reliance on the people to make the music. Our desire is to "Worship the LORD with gladness," and to "come before him with joyful songs" (Psalm 100:2).

You will also hear an expository sermon from our preacher. Before this, our young kids come forward to sing a song, and they are then dismissed to a classroom during the sermon for "Children's Church," where they will hear an age-appropriate lesson (Read more about that here). This is entirely optional, and you are welcome to keep your children with you during the sermon time. There is also a "cry-room" in the lobby if you choose to keep your infant with you but feel a need to step out.

We also take the Lord's Supper, or Communion, every Sunday. We take this together to remember Jesus' last supper with his apostles. As we share this together, we think back to his death for us on the cross, and we look forward to his coming, where we will feast with him and all the saints in the new kingdom. This is a very special part of the service, and we do this every Sunday as a constant reminder of our living hope in Jesus Christ!

Wednesday Nights

On Wednesday nights, we meet at 6pm for a free meal (always free, always plenty), served by various members of our church. We meet directly across the road in the fellowship space of our church's parsonage (2408 Woods Road). It is right on the corner of Woods Road and Old Coopertown Road, directly across from the church building.

At 6:45, the kids go upstairs for their classes, and the adults remain downstairs for a Bible study, generally discussion based.

Wednesday nights have a much more informal feel, and they're a great way to ease into church life if you are new to Coopertown or new to church in general. Come join us—we'd love to share a meal with you. There's always plenty to go around!
